Taking New Patients

Our office is a place where children feel at home and start their journey for a lifetime of good oral health. The dental needs of young children are very specific and they have special emotional needs as well.

Prepare for Your Visit

To prevent the development of early childhood cavities, parents need to find out their child’s risk of developing cavities, learn how to manage diet, oral hygiene and fluoride to prevent problems before they start.

First Visit by First Birthday

We are excited to meet you and your child at their first appointment. If this is your child’s first visit to the dentist (or their first time to our office) it is a very important time, and we know that it will be a great experience! Our goal is to build a steady relationship that will last for years in a trusting, comfortable environment and will promote good oral health and habits that will last a lifetime.

We support the recommendation by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry that your child should visit the dentist by his or her first birthday. Remember “First Visit by First Birthday.”

This “well baby” visit, at the age of one, provides valuable information on how to take care of your baby’s teeth, how to keep them healthy and cavity free, and how to assess normal dental development.

Your baby will have his or her first oral exam during this visit. Parents will learn proper techniques for tooth brushing and receive nutritional information that will help maintain good oral health.

Toddlers will also have an enjoyable first dental visit! We will use a “show and tell,” or “Tell-Show-Do,” technique to allow your child to see, touch, play with, and understand every object he or she will come in contact with during this visit. Our staff uses age appropriate language that will help your child grasp dental ideas. Your child will have an oral exam, receive x-rays, and have a dental cleaning with fluoride treatment. Parents will receive nutritional and diet counseling as well as home care instructions for the child’s oral hygiene.

What Our Patients Say

“We are super excited to be patients again at smiles4children! I took my children there for their check up and 6 month cleaning today. We were in and out in an hour, both children were given great tutorials and helpful hints from the hygienists on proper brushing with braces, the importance of flossing, and we were even given product recommendations for at home care. They commented as soon as we left on what a great dental experience it was! Dr. Jaiarj was wonderful and we are looking forward to seeing the other dentists in the practice as well. My kids are looking forward to the updated entertainment area and can’t wait to come back in 6 months!”

I always enjoy the visit to smiles4children every single time. I look forward to going for a check up.

We love this practice! We were greeted kindly by the front desk and my kids loved playing with the video games in the waiting room. My boys were comfortable and at ease because of the care given by the hygienists and Dr. Jahnigen. They give the children options so they feel like they have some control over the situation. Dr. Jahnigen took the time to explain things to me, which I appreciate as a parent. Definitely recommend them!

Today was our first time going. Dr. Turner and the rest of the staff made our kids feel welcome and comfortable. My son who was very scared of the dentist and didn’t do well in the past did great, thanks to the help of the doctors. They made it fun and enjoyable 🙂 Highly recommend!

My child’s first dentist apt, the whole staff was great. They took there time and walked through each step with my daughter so she felt comfortable. She now is asking to go back to the dentist every day.

My daughter is phobic and the general dentist caused considerable trauma trying to give her a shot of novacaine. We came her and Dr. Schroff put her at ease and was able to fill her cavity.

Thank you so much for taking my Hannah as a patient. She is so excited about the dentist visit she had today. She’s even looking forward to flossing and brushing. We are just THRILLED to have you as her dentist!

Their marquee says it all, smiles4children is Dentistry for Children. Located at 1134 N Rolling Road near the corner of Rolling Road and Route 40 in Catonsville, just down the street from the Double TT Diner, the combination dental/orthodontic office is a Dental Haven for kids.

If you, like me, have horrible memories of going to the dentist as a child, this is the place to start your kids off on the right tooth! We have never had to wait for more than a few minutes on the way in, but sometimes it has been hard to get my daughter OUT afterwards! The arcade and the two level play house with a slide help to entertain waiting siblings or kids as parents check in or out with the friendly and competent admin staff.

The entire staff from the admin folks, to the hygenists, to the clinical staff and the dentists themselves have an obvious love for kids. They are patient, kind and efficient. The whole experience is geared toward making the kids (and parents) feel comfortable. Kids get their choice of toothbrush color and flouride flavor. Headphones are provided so they can watch the TV’s while getting their treatment.

If you are looking for a place to get your kid’s dental experience started out right, or repaired after a bad experience, Sydney and I HIGHLY recommend smiles4children. They have an Ellicott City, MD office too! Start your kids out here early (or late) and you too will smile when they say “Remember when I was afraid of the Dentist?

My middle son saw Dr. Turner this morning. She was polite, friendly and my son LOVED her and the staff at the Eldersburg location!!
By far THE BEST, kid friendly waiting room I have EVER seen!!
